January 2015

January's Happenings

  1. First trip to the new My Burger Lab (watching back I just realised I edited it as The Burger Factory - my bad!) outlet in Sunway. Tried the one in PJ before and really liked it but hated how crowded it was, so definitely a happy camper that this is here! Headed to One City after that because I havent been there at night.
  2. Attended Adrie's wedding and it was so beautiful! Video honestly says it all. My favourite part of the whole clip.
  3. Starbucks on a Thursday night because I was madly craving for cake and good company :)
  4. The first video cameo of my little furball (who is sleeping next to me as I type this now), using the coffee press that Lillian and Xin Yi so thoughtfully got for me for my birthday last year, and me receiving mail because I love mail! and people who thoughtfully sent them.
  5. Meet up with the high school girls because Rachel is back! Had a good laugh playing Pictionary and it's always a good time when we're all together again.
  6. Work trip up north. Had my own room, a single bed and two whole nights of horrible sleep, Have I ever mentioned I hate sleeping in foreign places alone?
  7. Meet up with the group that I now gratefully call my own. Friends who I met through my boyfriend and who have warmly welcomed me in their company even when he's not around.
  8. Present from mom for my 23rd. Extremely belated, because its only sold in the UK and it only arrived recently. All those months of oogling has come to an end!

Singapore, December 2014

So here's a video I compiled of my trip to Singapore with Darren for countdown.
I've always wanted to do something like this and now that I have I am beyond inspired to do more so watch this space!

We wanted a short simple getaway hence why we chose Singapore although I was just there the month prior. It was also our first overseas trip together so that was exciting!

Took the bus (First Coach) on the 31st and I highly recommend it! For RM 140, I think its the cheapest way to travel to Singapore.

Upon arrival we checked in to Quarter's Hostel which had extremely friendly staff, good facilities, awesome location and the works. We wanted a hostel because we knew we were going to come home in the AMs that night so we didnt want to bug other people. Took a stroll around the area and headed back to the hostel to wash up before we headed to Marina Bay for countdown.

Actually met up with my sister for a quick bite before heading to Garden's by the Bay which was opposite Marina Bay Sands. Been there during the day once but I definitely recommend going there at night because the lights were beautiful! Then we headed over to the Casino at Marina Bay to watch people spend their fortunes away before starting to head back to our hostel. Initially wanted to hang around Marina Bay Sands for countdown but I wasnt feeling too good so we decided to watch the fireworks from a location nearer to our hostel incase i needed to go back ASAP. To quickly summarize, I havent been feeling too good, with stomach and headache problems and constantly feel like puking or passing out. Darren was extremely patient and was totally okay with going back despite us coming all the way to Singapore for this!
Fortunately, the place we decided to watch the fireworks which was about 1km away from our hostel had a very decent view. We soon found out that the best location of all to watch the fireworks was infact at the lake AT our hostel. So i believe God made me a bit sick to try to lead us back (haha!).
After countdown we had the most expensive mamak food at Boat Quay before calling it a night.

Woke up the next day to check out, had breakfast with my sister and met up with Darren's relatives in which we stayed with for the rest of the trip and spent the entire day with them. Headed to the Botanic Gardens and ate good food all day long. Was extremely devastated I decided not to bring my camera out this day.

On the 2nd, we headed to Orchard Road and did more eating than we did shopping. Night quickly came and we met up with Shiateen and Wei Jun at Lola's Cafe. Food was good but company was even better. Spontaneously decided to go for drinks at 11pm, so we hopped on the train and headed down south to The Library. It took us quite a while to find the location, not to mention the bar itself.

When we saw the entrance it was sealed shut but saw patrons merrily drinking inside. Asked the hotel next door how we could enter the bar and she said to enter through the tailor shop next to it. Headed to the seemingly ordinary tailor shop and saw a guy there with his laptop who looked at us unfazed. We asked if we could enter the bar next door and he said maybe. After a long pause and glances at each other he asked us for the password. He then said that if we didnt have a password, we had to tell him a joke, sing or dance until he was amused and satisfied. Thankfully we found the password (posted every Monday on their Facebook page). He led us to an ordinary tiny fitting room and shut the door behind us. We had to push the mirror to enter the bar. We also ordered one of the cutest and coolest drinks before calling it a night at 2am and taking a cab back. Definitely a memory for keeps.

Last day, met up with my sister again then hung out with Darren's relatives before taking the bus home.

The trip was short, quick but I was completely contented everyday.

Cant wait for the next adventure!
